Manville's new fire tower truck was delivered on Tuesday, February 25th. Several Council members attended when it arrived at Fire Company #1.
This was a long-awaited piece of equipment that will serve the Borough for many years to come, including when helping out other towns when needed.
The Borough was planning for several years to get a new truck built to replace an older truck that was almost 30 years old. It's important that aging equipment be replaced, as the cost of repairs can increase as equipment ages, and parts get hard to find.
During the Council Meeting on February 24th, a resident asked if the almost $2 million cost would be paid for in one payment.
"It's gonna be bonded for 20 years. Governor Murphy just let the timeframe go from 10 years to 20 years, and we think it's appropriate to bond for this piece of equipment over 20 years, so that everyone who lives in the Borough benefits by it, and pays for it," Responded Mayor Richard Onderko.
